Office of the Registrar of Lobbyists for British Columbia Advisory Committee Terms of Reference

Objective: 

The Office of the Registrar of Lobbyists for British Columbia (ORL) wishes to establish a Lobbyists Advisory Committee to function as an ongoing resource for the ORL to assist in the implementation of the amended Lobbyists Registration Act, which came into force on April 1, 2010.

Committee Structure: 

It is not expected that the committee will have any formal structure. The Registrar and/or the Deputy Registrar will act as facilitator and provide all secretariat functions.

Frequency of Meetings: 

The Committee will meet three times a year during the first year, and after that as determined by the Committee.

Mandate of the Committee: 

The mandate of the Committee is to function as a resource for the ORL for consultation and feedback regarding any or all of the following non-exhaustive items:

  • ORL policies, procedures and practices;
  • Outreach opportunities and educational materials, including advisory bulletins;
  • Sectoral and/or general concerns from the lobbying community;
  • ORL services;
  • The ORL website and online registry system; and
  • The selection and term of advisory panel members.

Excluded Subjects: 

The Committee will not discuss the merits of any investigation or findings, substantive issues of law or amendments to the Act or Regulations.

Meeting Minutes to be Public: 

The minutes of the Committee meetings will be published on the ORL website.
