Aitken Creek Gas Storage ULC |
Aitken Creek Gas Storage is the only Natural Gas Storage reservoir in BC and is located in the heart of the resource-rich Montney Shale. ACGS connects to Alliance and Westcoast systems with projected connection to the Nova Gas Transmission North Montney Mainline Project upon approval from the NEB. ACGS provides a place for producers to take their gas during low demand periods, adding volume and liquidity to the BC market and greater value to the producers . The province benefits from additional royalties due to storage operations and the facility acts as a backstop for varying line pack conditions on Westcoast and Alliance pipelines. |

Arranging meeting between an individual and a public office holder
The meeting focused on potential reservoir integrity threats to the ACGS storage reservoirs by other Operators drilling activities around and under the storage reservoirs. Exploration of mechanisms to use PNG tenure to protect the storage reservoirs. ACGS wishes to take a win: win: win approach. Clarity and more certainty around operations and safety for producers and the storage operator, and additional clarity on requirements set by the regulator. At the conclusion, the tenure folks indicated that they have the ability to add buffer zones to the gas storage license to provide reservoir protection.
