Sent Letter to discuss: The CleanBC plan aims to reduce the environmental impact of existing buildings and to waste less energy. By using more clean energy and using it more efficiently in homes and buildings, British Columbians can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality. British Columbians wanting to switch from fossil fuel-based heating to cleaner, more energy-efficient heat pumps also have access to low-interest financing as part of CleanBC.
The CPA is challenging the province’s decision to only provide rebates to homeowners who switch to heat pumps. In many parts of British Columbia, such as rural and remote areas, heat pumps are not an efficient nor effective alternative for switching from home heating oil and diesel. Low-emission propane is a viable options to help reduce overall emissions.
