VRCA is working to promote and foster a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship between the Lower Mainland's industrial, commercial and institutional construction industry and the provincial government as both a policy/regulatory body and a purchaser of construction and allied services. The association also promotes the utilization of standard and ethical practices, documents and tendering procedures in the construction industry.

The Government of B.C. intents to build key public infrastructure projects using a Community Benefits Agreement that includes an embedded Project Labour Agreement. VRCA is working on behalf of the industrial, commercial and institutional construction industry to get answers to operational questions about how the CBA will affect contractors working on CBA projects in order to help its members understand and mitigate the business risks resulting from the CBA.

The Government of B.C. is undertaking a formal review of B.C.'s workers' compensation system and has appointment of retired labour lawyer Janet Patterson to conduct the review. VRCA wants to ensure the terms of reference are adequate and that the scope includes a review of how WorkSafeBC is funded.

The Government of B.C. has introduced various taxes and fees in the last two budget, including the Employer Health Tax, that are collectively increasing the cost of doing business in B.C. VRCA will be lobbying to ensure government is aware of the impact of the increased costs and the effect it can have on investor confidence in B.C.
