The BCMA is currently working on 7 policy papers with the intent of public release and promotion to the government: 1. Concussions; considering the impact of new pan-Canadian Concussion Guidelines on physicians advocate for increased support for physician to return to learn and return to play guidelines. 2. Dementia; updating policy on dementia care in BC including prevention, violence in residential care homes and residential care funding. 3. Improving BC's Health Care System Performance; paper released January 2017 that includes recommendations to stakeholders, including the government, aimed at better support and coordination of health system and quality improvement in BC. 4. Professional Autonomy; paper released January 2017 that sets out what it means by professional autonomy. 5. Psychological Safety in Health Care Teams; policy statement released in June 2017 that makes recommendations and commitments in 4 areas that work toward implementing policies and practices that promote psychological safety for physician and health care providers. 6. Chronic Pain; released a policy statement in June 2017 recommending that the Ministry of Health develop a Provincial Chronic Pain Strategy that supports access to multidisciplinary chronic pain services and includes a list of actions government should prioritize in a strategy. 7. Physician Disaster Preparedness; developing policy paper addressing the role of physicians in disaster or emergency planning.
