The BC Teachers' Federation is opposed to students being required to bring their own technological devices to school and request that government provide adequate funding to districts to equip and support teachers and students with the necessary, up-to-date technological resources. In addition we request that the government fully fund the Next Generation Network since it is the ministry's expectation that the new curriculum will include technology.

Call to engage in discussion with the BC Teachers' Federation and other stakeholders on issues raised in Bill 11 that undermines the authority of school trustees and their ability to make decisions that reflect the needs of their community; challenges the professionalism of teachers by making their professional development subject to arbitrary direction; allows for collection and use of student data without sufficient privacy protections; centralizes control in the role of the Minister of Education and unnecessarily increases government bureaucracy.
