The Federal Govt is considering to adopt guidelines for the emission of SO2 (CAAQS)from industrial centers like the Rio Tinto Aluminum Smelter in Kitmat. The BC Govt is play a role in the development of these guidlines. The intended outcome of RT's effort is to have the BC Govt support and endorse guidlines that will reflect the environmental and economic benefits of the aluminum smelting sector in BC.
