Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC (ICABC)
In BC, the legacy professional accounting bodies¿the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC (ICABC), the Certified General Accountant Association of BC (CGA-BC), and the Certified Management Accountants Society of BC (CMABC)¿have signed a merger agreement and are working together with the provincial government to establish CPABC.
CPABC is responsible for the training and certification of CPA students. Under the coming CPABC legislation, CPABC will be also be responsible for the regulating and professional development of its members, and the protection of the public through its ethical standards and discipline processes.
Until CPABC legislation is enacted, each legacy body will manage regulatory responsibilities for members separately, including discipline and other matters. Once legally established, CPABC will be one of the largest professional organizations in the province.
