BC Public Office Background
Lobbying Activities
Taxation and Finance
Arranging meeting between an individual and a public office holder for purpose of lobbying
Awarding, amendment or termination of a contract, grant or financial benefit
Development, establishment, amendment or termination of any program, policy or decision
Introduction, modification or repeal of legislation, a bill or regulation
The BC Government (Ministry of Finance) is currently conducting a review of the BC Ports Property Tax Act (BCPPTA), which is a complex subject matter. Marine terminal operators fully support good governance and necessity for policy review to address the needs of government and industry at a time when technology, operations, and geopolitical climate are ever changing. The BCPPTA is a critical component of investor confidence in BC marine terminal trade corridor investment. The BC Marine Terminal Operators Association (BCMTOA) seeks to partner with the BC Government in a collaborative and transparent process, within a realistic timeframe, that will result in the best overall provincial program with the least exposure to job losses, supply chain interference, and export related customer and investor confidence due to taxation risk.
