ICBA has over 4,000 members and clients primarily in the construction and responsible resource development sectors. ICBA advocates on issues related to small business and construction contractors, such as government tendering, employment and labour, economic, resource, tax and regulatory policies. ICBA offers and develops training programs for constructions professionals. ICBA also provides group health and retirement benefits and brokerage services to construction contractors and other businesses and their employees.

- ICBA has over 2,000 members and clients primarily in the construction and responsible resource development sectors. ICBA is the single largest sponsor of apprentices in BC and trains over 3,500 people a year.
- The Independent Contractors and Businesses Association is the voice of B.C.'s construction industry and the oldest open shop organization in Canada. Representing the interests of over 1,200 members, ICBA has grown into a thriving member-service oriented association whose voice and leadership is respected throughout the province.
- The Independent Contractors and Businesses Association dates back to 1975, making it the elder statesman of Canada's open shop community. ICBA's story began in the small town of Trail in the southeastern corner of BC. A number of open shop contractors were denied access to bidding on public work by the government of the day because they were not affiliated with the building trade unions. The contractors formed an association to lobby for their position with the provincial government, and the grassroots provincial movement was under way. ICBA has grown and continues to be the champion of open tendering and fair treatment for all contractors, regardless of their union affiliations. The association also offers a full suite of member services, including affinity programs, health benefits, and much more.
