Specific Topics of Lobbying Communications Intended Outcomes Associated Subject Matters B.C. is proposing an emissions cap for the oil and gas industry, which of course may result in increased opportunities for geothermal. In our consultation submission on the proposed cap on oil and gas emissions, CanGEA has called for: - Increased visibility of geothermal heat and electricity so that industry is fully aware of the resources and technologies available to them to meet our environmental and economic goals. - Targeted funding for geothermal energy in Clean BC programs to further BC’s baseload renewable energy. - Prioritization of the development of baseload renewable energy ahead of CCUS. - Development, establishment, amendment or termination of any program, policy, directive or guideline of the government of British Columbia or a Provincial entity
- Energy,
- Environment
This was a simple consultation submission/feedback on the BC Output Based Pricing System submitted to: GHGRegulator@gov.bc.ca Our comments highlighted the need for targeted fiscal support for geothermal development in the Clean BC programs to accommodate potential geothermal offset projects. Additionally, that industrial consortiums be allowed to opt-in to the program and access CleanBC Industry funding to enable geothermal energy to play a key role via District Heating Systems to bolster BC’s sustainable development and emissions reduction efforts. And thirdly, that geothermal heat be included as a solution in BC’s energy and climate goals, in addition to electrifying everything with hydropower. - Awarding, amendment or termination of any contract, grant or financial benefit by or on behalf of the government of British Columbia or a Provincial entity
- Development or enactment of any regulation, including the enactment of a regulation for the purposes of amending or repealing a regulation
- Development, establishment, amendment or termination of any program, policy, directive or guideline of the government of British Columbia or a Provincial entity
- Energy,
- Environment
