Interprovincial regulatory harmonization relating to travel agency licensing and travel insurance distribution. ACTA is encouraging consideration of changes that would:
Establish mutual recognition of equivalent provincial travel agency licensing regimes;
Reduce duplicative licensing, reporting, and compliance requirements for agencies operating interprovincially;
Facilitate the ability of licensed agencies and host agencies to support travel advisors located in multiple provinces;
Enable licensed travel advisors to distribute travel insurance products to clients across provincial boundaries based on home-province credentials.
The broader context relates to reducing interprovincial barriers to trade while maintaining consumer protection standards through coordinated regulatory oversight and information sharing between jurisdictions.
