B.C. is proposing an emissions cap for the oil and gas industry, which of course may result in increased opportunities for geothermal.

In our consultation submission on the proposed cap on oil and gas emissions, CanGEA has called for:

- Increased visibility of geothermal heat and electricity so that industry is fully aware of the resources and technologies available to them to meet our environmental and economic goals.

- Targeted funding for geothermal energy in Clean BC programs to further BC’s baseload renewable energy.

- Prioritization of the development of baseload renewable energy ahead of CCUS. Footnote1
