Expand funding to grow skilled trades to address labour shortages in the residential construction sector. We recommend that the Province establish targeted and sustained funding to help address labour shortages in the residential construction sector that:
● Support the growth of skilled trades across BC to meet current and future housing construction demand;
● Expand core funding for SkilledTradesBC in the short- and long-term to enable more seats for training and increased fl exibility for programming;
● Ensure regional equity with dedicated funding to support skilled trades in remote communities and among underrepresented groups;
● Are developed in consultation with training providers and industry partners to ensure programs refl ect current industry needs, technologies, and practices; and
● Promote skilled trades career pathways for youth. Footnote1
