Ministry of Education has proposed changing the funding formula for special needs learners. Self Design DL is advocating that Ministry of Education officials keep the current funding model for special needs learners remain unchanged.

Ministry of Education reduced funding for full time equivalent students in Independent Distributed Learning Schools from 63% of public distributed learning schools to 50% for the 2020/21 school year . This decision was announced to IDL's on May 4th 2020 - just a few months away from the new school year with little time to adjust budgets for the upcoming school year.
