Submission of signatures on open letter to the entire federal government of Canada and to the British Columbia government: Sovereign Tribes in Southeast Alaska have not consented to rapid mining development occurring in the headwaters of the transboundary rivers that they have depended on since time immemorial. The Tribes are already seeing the impact of Canadian mining projects on their lands – we urge you to honour your international human rights obligations and recognise their right to deep consultation on development decisions across the three watersheds at the heart of the mining development: The Taku/T'aaḵu Héeni (Tlingit), Stikine/Shtax'heen (Tlingit) and Unuk/Joonax (Tlingit).
