Island Rail Corporation (IRC) is engaging with the Government of British Columbia and the Official Opposition regarding the revitalization, acquisition, leasing, and long-term operation of strategic rail corridors, including the British Columbia Railway corridor (BCR corridor), and associated rail infrastructure. Discussions include integrated freight and passenger rail services, rail-marine logistics interfaces, and intermodal transportation systems. IRC’s activities also involve coordination with government regarding access to, use of, and potential transfer or lease of Crown assets and rail infrastructure, as well as alignment with provincial transportation, economic development, and trade corridor priorities.
