The Foundation's purpose is centered on educating individuals about the prevention and management of heart disease and stroke, and to fund medical research regarding the causes of these conditions. The organization was founded in 1952. The CEO of Heart & Stroke is Doug Roth. The Executive Vice President, , Executive Vice President, Mission, Research, Social Enterprise is Diego Marchese. The Senior Vice President, Western Canada is Donna Hastings. Heart & Stroke is led and supported by a team of more than 125,000 volunteers and sustained by the commitment and generosity of more than 1.4 million donors.
